Sizes for Soccer Balls
The size of normal soccer balls varies depending of the type of soccer the owner wants to use it for, and the age of the players.
- Size 5:
The standard soccer ball. This is the ball used for official senior matches (national leagues, continental and world championships). This is for ages above 12. It’s 27-28 inches in circumference, and weighs about 14 to 16 ounces.
- Size 4:
It’s for kids of ages between 8 and 12. These “future soccer players” need smaller balls, because Size 5 balls would be too big and too heavy for them to control them properly. Size 4 weighs no more than 12 ounces, and is 25-26 inches in circumference.
- Size 3:
For kids under 8 years of age. They look more like handballs than soccer balls, with a circumference of 23 to 24 inches, and a weight less than 12 ounces.
